Padel is the fastest growing sport globally. We are delighted to be the first tennis club in Reigate and Banstead to open two padel courts providing a dynamic, fun and inclusive game to members and the local community.
Commenting on the launch of the two new courts, James Smith, Head Coach and National Over 45 UK Tennis Singles Champion, said: “This is a really exciting development for Reigate. This fast-growing game is accessible for all, and we are really looking forward to being the first Club to offer this in the local community. We can’t wait to get started.”
Gillian Rae, Founder and Co-owner of GEW, the main sponsor of the two padel courts, said: “The courts look fantastic and are a real asset to the local community and the Manor Road tennis facility. RLTC is a not-for-profit club run by volunteer members and the club fully deserves our sponsorship. This will leave a lasting sporting legacy to both the club and our local area. Padel is a great way to keep active for all ages. Let the games begin.”
The two new padel courts were officially opened on Tuesday 16th July by Reigate and Banstead’s Mayor, Cllr Eddy Humphreys who said “I really enjoyed playing Padel, seeing the facilities and meeting members of RLTC. I am excited by these first padel courts to Reigate and Banstead as sport continues to thrive locally. What was noticeable was that padel is not only a great way to stay active but a way to build community and connection. I look forward to returning for another game. In the meantime, I hope there is real enjoyment from these new courts.”
Andy McDonald, Chair of RLTC, said: “I am delighted that our Club is able to unveil two new Padel Courts to Reigate. This significant development would not have been possible without the generous support of GEW. We are very grateful to our long-standing sponsor and friend of our Club. I would also like to thank everyone involved in this project and particularly to our tennis committee and to Jo Smith for her leadership, unwavering efforts and commitment to make this happen.”
